Winterlude in Ottawa

Murphy’s Law – if you plan a trip in winter, it will snow (even if it hasn’t snowed all season) so Saturday morning, through blowing and drifting snow, I headed to Ottawa.

I met my friend Leslie in Nepean and we headed downtown to the Rideau Centre for a bit of lunch and to check out the festivities at “Winterlude.” It wasn’t snowing in Ottawa, and the sun actually shone for a bit but it was feakishly cold.

I have to admit that I’ve become a bit of a winter Diva … once outside I started complaining of cold fingers and that spread to cold ears and then to cold….and with all my whining and complaining about the cold we didn’t spend too much time outdoors – just enough time to take a few photos.

  1. It's so hard to even think of snow, I am seeing Japanese cherry trees starting to blossom and it feeling very springlike. I hope we aren't e lulled into complacency and have a terrible March & April. Go inside and have a hot Choolate & get toasty warm.

    1. Those Canadian Geese gave me hope on the way home - not as much as cherry blossoms would, but it's a start!

  2. Beautiful pictures, but Brrr. It does look cold.

I've only been to Ottawa once and that was a stop over on the way to Montreal to de-ice the wings of the plane. We weren't even able to leave the plane. It was -40C that January. Brrrr.

    1. It wasn't -40 but it was too cold for me, especially when the 'warm' clothes were in the back of the Sante Fe rather than on my body. But I couldn't pass up the chance to snap a picture of the worlds largest skating rink.

  3. Good news is the days are getting longer and there's some actual heat in the sun. Won't be long now.

    1. I know - yesterday I was out walking and I realized it was 5:30 and still light out, it kind of sneaks up on you doesn't it?
