Who Has More Fun ...

Who has more fun than a teacher trying to close up shoppe for the season? An incredibly busy time, but Sunday was the day to lay down the proverbial chalk, haul out the VStar, check her tire pressure (still an issue) and head for the open road. It was a beautiful day and I landed  in Historic Perth, Ontario to meet up with a friend for lunch and some wandering through town.
I appreciated the mesh layer of the new Rocket Alter Ego jacket in the near 30 Celsius temps. It has passed the first test of - too hot and not too heavy. (Haven't tested it in the - too cold or too wet yet.)

  1. Karen:

    I recently purchased the same JR Alter Ego 11.0 jacket. It's still new with tags, I'm saving it for summer. It's still winter here. I also bought a Tourmaster Flex pants, full mesh with removeable panels. Will blog about it soon.

    Karen, can't wait to see where you are going this year.

    1. Bob I've got the Rocket pants with zip out panels - my second pair. Can't wait to hear your commentary on the Rocket gear. And funny you should mention this summer's ride - I think I'll ask Trobairitz for directions to Oregon!

    2. Oh, and I'm sorry to hear that it's still winter like out there - temps tomorrow over 30 with a humidex of 40 here (okay, that's just too hot - man, I just never seem to be happy;o)

    3. Okay ... So Bob, how many rooms did you book? Are there campsites nearby?

  2. Beautiful photos of the river. What is the building with the balcony hanging over the water?

    1. Okay, funny, they all seem to have balconies hanging over the water. My favorite was the "row house" looking one, a private residence. It was just beside a little short burst of rapids and my friend Leslie and I thought that it would the most perfect house to live in - to be able to go to sleep to the sound of water dancing by would be the ultimate. The one drawback, it was at the end of the little red bridge and looked like it was part of the park. Probably have hundreds of strangers wandering into their yard daily.

    2. Actually, the second photo. After I posted my comment I noticed all the other balconies.

    3. Richard, that's the one I liked best, it's the private residence. No diving from the balcony though, looked like the water was about 2 feet deep.

    1. It was a beautiful day, gusty little winds and all. And speaking of summer riding can you send directions to the gathering in Oregon (even, maybe repost the event). I think Oregon for the weekend sounds like a great idea, afterall it is all about the journey (and I think Randy headed west)!

  4. Lovely photos- very leafy and green. Reminds me of home in Maryland.

    If you're a teacher, aren't you putting down the actual chalk? ;-)

    1. It was green, it was leafy and what I loved were the willows bending down to dip and wave their delicate fingers across the sparkling surface of the river...as far as real chalk goes, I can't remember the last time I touched it,(okay, so I might have done some sidewalk drawings a couple of weeks ago). Hey, we're all about dustfree environments and touch screen technology now - school just "ain't" what it used to be ;o}

  5. I'm the friend who toured Perth with Karen. It was soooo hot. After a few hours of walking around we happily headed to a Tim Horton's for something cold to drink.
    Great photos Karen! I especially liked the bridge one!
