I live in a beautiful town and sometimes a picture says much more than words could ever. Sunday I had the chance to be a tourist in my own town. From Brits in the Park to an art festival, a flea market on market square, City Hall across the basin and kite boarders racing in the Canadian Olympic Regatta Kingston (CORK), it was a spectacular, sunny, summer Sunday - in Kingston, Ontario.

Now that looks like a good day. Lots of walking though. ;-). I love the Triumph. Did anything follow you home from the festivals?
ReplyDeleteIt was a fantastic day and a great waterfront walk ... I was hoping one of the Lotus' would have followed me home. Wait a minute, it did...the red one belongs to my friends who live next door, but it would have been nicer if they had parked it in my driveway.
ReplyDeleteI saw a note posted on the Bonneville 750 that the "Old Bastards" Vintage Bike event will be happening September 8 and 9 (Delta ON). I'll have to make a point of going to it again this year for a few pictures.
Karen:
ReplyDeleteI used to have two MGB's. My first was a 1964 which was purchased around 1967, and then I bought a 1973 in the 80's. Back then most sports cars were British. Our neighbour has a 1964 Jaguar XKE roadster. I used to like Lotus Elans.
sometimes it's just nice to stay close to home and relax in the warm weather

Bob, it is nice to spend time in the hometown, especially when it is as beautiful as my hometown (It's a destination spot you know, you really need to get here to see it!) There were a lot of MGs, Jags and even a few Bentley's and other odds'n ends. There were even a couple of right hand drives - it was all just so James Bondish you know - shaken not stirred!
DeleteI used to really like the look of the Lotus Europa. This was back in the early 70's when all I could afford was an old ('65) Mustang.
ReplyDeleteNice photos of the happenings around town.
A friend had a Europa and I had the chance to drive it once. It was like driving a go-kart - very quick and responsive and you sat about 2" off the pavement. Oh yeah, and totally impractical. :)
DeleteThere were several Lotus models in the park - none of them looked like they'd be much more than a couple of inches from the pavement. The Europa owner (a tall man)admitted he finds it hard to be graceful getting in and out. He drove it back from BC a couple of years ago.
DeleteRichard I wanted the Mustang myself, then when I was finally old enough to buy one in 79 the car had changed so much it just didn't seem to be the same old mustang.
DeleteMy '65 Mustang was pretty junky. They now have a loyal following but back then, it was just an old car...
DeleteMy mustang was a '79, but it had changed so much (and not for the better,I think, style wise) from the 60's models.
DeleteKaren - Will have to put the Old Bastards into my calendar. Hopefully I'll be back on 2 wheels by then and be able to ride down.
ReplyDeleteCanajun - It's a nice area for a day trip...by the way, how are the ribs doing?
DeleteWow, so many things to do in one day. It is nice to just wander around your home town sometimes and take it all in.
ReplyDeleteTrobairitz - it's just a happenin' town during the summer months for sure. In the winter the market square turns into a skating rink which is great too.
DeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteYou certainly live in a stunning area! Gorgeous photos of the Brit machines too. Unfortunately, early Lotus models were higher maintenance than the Kardashians!
Ontario - the beautiful! (I don't thing these pretty Lotus' go far these days, cuts down on mantenance.)
ReplyDeleteOr you can try and find a Tesla roadster as, I believe, they are built on a Lotus Elise chassis. I have heard that they are pretty reliable (and fast).
