277 km later and here's what I found.
Sydenham ON
Mayberly ON
Jones Falls ON
Long Lake Road, Bolingbroke Road and Battersea Road (3 great motorcycle roads) ... I was early ... some of the trees have embraced the dance of autumn, dawning gold and crimson but most are still hanging on to their sexy, summer green. The day ended in Battersea ON with a 'Creekside' meeting of the Kingston Bike Club ...
Fall colours ... maybe next weekend - Stay tuned for the annual Battersea Pumpkin Festival.
Beautiful day, love ride Karen. It looks like your colors may be slightly ahead of ours. I"ll know for sure tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteThis weekend was just too nice not to ride in search of colours even if I knew I would be too early.
DeleteThe colour change has been pretty muted here as well. Usually we're seeing splashes of red and yellow but this year it seems to be mostly brown. Hopefully by next weekend it will be better.
ReplyDeleteWe've got yellow but the scarlet has yet to come. My road is usually spectacular as long as it doesn't storm just at peak - a week or so will tell.
DeleteKaren, I can't wait to see the fall colours in full force. Thanks for getting out there and find some for us.
ReplyDeleteSonja I'm hoping the glorious weather holds until the colours peak. (An unbelievable +22 today.)
Deleteit is great you are having such nice fall weather and could get out for a ride. Soon your leaves will all change color.
ReplyDeleteThe rain we longer for al summer has arrived and we are experiencing the wettest September on record of over 5 inches (the old record was 1927)
I guess we should be careful what we wish for....
Kingston is usually known for it's rain in fall (and it has been raining until this week.) This weekend has been spectacular and almost makes up for all the rain we had this summer here in the east (almost!!!) I'm now hoping it continues until November (is that a pipe dream?)
DeleteKaren:
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that some of us had a chance to go riding and see some colour. Of course we don't get that kind of colour here so we have to admire your photos and imagine that we are there with you.
You will see what kind of weekend we had here as soon as I upload my video. We barely reached 11°c all weekend. We needed an arc with two of each on board

Riding the Wet Coast
Bob - I will be watching for your sad story ... Hate to rub it in but if you looked up most perfect weather for motorcycle rides ever - you'd see this weekend here in Eastern Ontario.
DeleteLooks like a grand day out!
ReplyDeleteWe had rain on Saturday, but yesterday was glorious. I managed to get out for a good, long ride. We don't have much color here yet, but I'm anticipating things will get very colorful in the coming week.
It looks like a wonderful day out and the roads look to be perfect. I like all of the pumpkins stacked outside the store. That just says that Fall has arrived!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to fall color photorides.. Rainy day here in Metro Detroit, hopefully next weekend will be nice.. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteNice photos! I sometimes forget how many nice rides are so close. Those roads are some of my favourite too. The Lanark area seems to have many and the road that goes through Oompah is a nice quiet ride as well. I notice you like to stop at markets and such. Have you ever been to the Remsen Barn Festival? I took a quick weekend ride in the fall through upper New York and came across the Remsen Barn Festival. I was tempted to stop, even though I dont usually. But it was a weekend trip and I had to get home that evening. The highways leading into the small town were full of cars parked on the shoulders and people were coming in by the busload. It looked interesting enough I just might have to make it a destination in September 2014. The same weekend, and not that far away from Remsen as I recall, was the Adirondack Moose Festival near Indian Lake. Not as many people overall, but more bikes in the area.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
This was a day I went out for coffee ... I love it when the coffee shop you find is quaint and an hour and a half ride away. I've never heard of the Remsen Barn Festival. I may have to check it out as well. Thanks for the tip. Ah, yes the Adirondacks where bear make motorcyclists stop until they decide to toddle off the road!
