This is the road I'm staying on ...
This is the ski Chalet I'm not staying in ...
This is who is ...This is my backyard tonight ...
This is Shawnee Mountain (Poconos) PA.
(This was also the place of my one and only, ever - bear encounter ... 2010. Hwy 209 speed posted 45mph due to extreme wildlife encounters.) I'm sad I won't be here for the wurst festival ... I'm sure it will be the best festival!
Karen:
ReplyDeleteWe're lucky, we don't have much wildlife here to worry about. What a nice back yard.
I wouldn't be used to roads like that, there's no shoulder

Riding the Wet Coast
Bob, what's really challenging to do along these roads with no shoulders is walk safely ... Do American's in the east not walk anywhere?
DeleteThe wurst festival sounds like something to stick around for. Do you have a schedule?
ReplyDeleteI thought about staying Richard, but it was darn cold last night ... and the ocean is calling my name.
DeleteI enjoyed the "this is" post theme for the day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brandy.
DeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteI'm always still surprised at the places in our country with no road shoulders. Here in the midwest with our space, big wide formal road 'edges' are common place. I remember those narrow New England roads well; narrow, fewer signs, quicker traffic and no space 'to the right'.
I'm with Brandy on today's theme....
Thanks Coop - says something to the fact that most people in the area drive places - cause there's no safe way to walk there!
DeleteMmm I love wurst! The dog looks a little too attentive. We are having a lot of extreme issues with deer on the island. Not sure how I would feel about a road without shoulders. Ride safe!
ReplyDeleteDar, the big dog was very attentive ... however, it was the little one above him that did all the complaining. Obviously they don't see a lot of people walking by on those roads with no shoulders.
ReplyDeleteI just spent 3 days riding around PA and I could have sworn I saw a white V-Star. I thought to myself "Hey, I wonder if that's Karen. But I quickly talked myself out of it because I thought you were out in the Maritimes somewhere. Maybe it was you I waved at afterall. I even re-read your route from your last trip to PA and tried some of those roads. Nothing disappointed. PS: I wrote you last year as K Rowland S but I had to change my emails. Cheers
ReplyDeleteAh, I was wondering.
DeleteI was in the Maritimes, but I never seem to take the short cut to anywhere, I took the long way to Virginia Beach.
Glad you got to ride and spend some time in PA ... I'm now convinced the North East USA is one of my favorite places to go. Nearly stopped at Gettysburg again today.
PS: I was on my candy orange Versys which I affectionately named Little Miss Sunshine
ReplyDeleteI hope we crossed paths ... and I hope I waved back.
DeleteForgot to ask - how did the knee stand up to the distance? Well I hope.
Deletethanks for asking! The knee was no problem at all. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to say the same if I was on my SV. All in I put 2950 kms on in 4 solid days of riding and only had rain for about my last hour home.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, if it WAS you, you did wave back.
