I'm Thankful For A Beautiful Day

This morning dawned still under the chill of last nights first frost. The sun illuminated the mist rising from the grasses. It held all of the promise of a stellar day for a ride.
Having had the VStar's recent 'scritch, scritch" noise checked out and deemed not critical;  I dusted off the cold weather jacket, pulled on the wool socks, plugged in the vest, turned on the heated grips and headed out for what will most likely be the last ride of 2014. There was little traffic and the colours were outstanding. I am thankful for so many things including this beautiful day.
I had hoped to meet up with other bloggers/riders from the 'hood' but for this season, it wasn't meant to be. Hope to see you on the road in 2015.

  1. Were you the only one who showed up for the "last ride" of the season? (You must really be tough!)

    1. Richard you make me smile! I don't call it tough heading out in plus 10 C wearing complete heated gear ... but I didn't see another motorcycle until around noon when the temp rose to 13 or better. Oh, we are so soft!

  2. It was a gorgeous day and I wish I'd been able to take advantage even for a short ride. Unfortunately it just wasn't possible and so I envy you getting out all the more. But let's hope for one more, okay?

    1. Canajun it was beautiful ... but for me, if there is one more day it will be the chance to get the Star to storage without a truck! Missed you ... perhaps next year.

  3. It certainly looks like a lovely day - I love riding in Autumn. Really sad to hear that it's time to park the bike for a while - I just don't know if I could handle that!

    1. Andrew, it couldn't have been more perfect - the colours were breathtaking. It's hard to ride and take it all in at the same time. Soon the sleds (aka snowmobiles) will be coming out UGH! The snow just gets too deep for a motorcycle (well for me and my motorcycle that is.)

  4. While I couldn't make it all the way up to your neck of the woods, I got in about 75 miles of a glorious riding down here in the desert. I'm thankful we don't put our bikes in storage dow here in Arizona. Hopefully Spring will be here before you know it and riding will be better than ever for you.

    1. That's the sad thing ... spring will be here before I know it - the older I get the faster the seasons seem to pass. More than four weeks of winter is such a waste of time isn't it?

  5. Hi Karen. Two apologies: I tried entering a comment earlier but my computer was acting up and I don't know if it went thru. Secondly, please accept my humble apology for not showing up yesterday. Well, showing up ON TIME anyway! I left my place in Smithfield at 11:15 and figured this would be plenty of time given the number of times I've ridden the Wellington area. My plan was to take the 401 to 10 but it was too busy for my liking so I made my way north to catch 7. That proved to be a mistake as I got caught in several slow gangs of traffic who were crawling along due to the increased OPP presence. No time could be made up there but I still thought I was doing ok. What a shock I had when I pulled into Tims parking lot and didn't see a white VStar then pulled out my phone to check the time. It was 1:30 !!! I spent the afternoon riding around the area and managed to put about 600 kms all told. Near the end of the afternoon I headed down Battersea road and thought I would grab a warm cup of coffee at the Creekside [and was hoping you may have had the same idea] but it was closed. Glad you enjoyed the ride though and got the VStar sorted. I would still like to gab about your blog and maybe how you got started. Please feel free to email me at krowlandfish@gmail.com
    Cheers

    1. Thanks Sonja ... there were so many beautiful spots but not too many to pull over. That one was close to home - we expect people to stop in the middle of the road around here.

  8. Our Thanksgiving day drive home from Toronto was brutal. Rush hour traffic on the 401 all the way to past Kingston. What is up with that?? Thank heavens for iPhones, Bluetooth, podcasts of Car Talk and the live stream from Jazz FM 91.

  9. Too bad David ... I remember the days when I just enjoyed talking to the person riding in the car next to me! But then again traffic doesn't really upset me that much ... unless it's 100 degrees and I'm following a tractor trailor on my motorcycle =0)
