... She'll Miss Me

I had a window of opportunity … and what a window it was. For one last time this season I stepped into the familiar Rocket gear and headed out to ride my Star. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day with dazzling sunshine and almost summer heat.
The Star and I stopped for a farewell portrait by the lake. A flawless end to a stellar year, my only regret – it was the ride to her winter home. I think she’ll miss me but I know she’ll be well taken care of.
We said our goodbyes; she looked straight ahead awaiting her fate …’til spring dear Star, ‘til spring!
(PS I’m convinced those are tears you can see on her windscreen - not bird doo doo!)

it is so sad to read this.

As you say "'till Spring", may it arrive early and may next year be the best riding year ever !

think back on the great memories your *Star has given you and the places you have been and perhaps it will soften the sadness

    1. Bob - I think back every day - and it puts a smile on my face.

  2. That's too bad, but can you still get to her in case of sunny day?

    1. Brad - unfortunately once she's in, she's in for the season. They pack them in fairly tightly on two levels. I know there will probably be one more sunny day but I didn't want to risk having to "truck" her there.

  3. Awww, sad panda.

Think how happy you'll be on that day will be in the spring when she is race ready and raring to go.

    1. Brandy - "Race Ready?" It's me you're talking to remember - the "Slowest Canadian." Race isn't in my vocabulary ... but it will be a happy day in spring when she's ready to go. (That's one of the things I like about storing her there - they do all the work, I just make a phone call and say I'd like ...)

  4. It's a sad day when you have put her away for the season. I feel your pain.

    1. It is, but I was also feeling very guilty being at work while she sat in the shed, lonely and alone. There were very few good riding weekends this fall - the nice days all happened Mon-Fri. Today, it looks almost like snow, of course, it's the weekend!

  5. I think the "tears" are from the belief that your Star is being abandoned into a cold, lonely, dark storage with a bunch of other equally unloved machines....

    Just kidding...

    1. (Shhhh, it's motorcycle cruelty.) Not really - It's not pretty but it's heated storage and the good thing - they take care of all the maintenance. I think she's the only Star in the pen.

  6. And that's why I'm grateful to be able to store my ride in my very own heated garage - you never know when a really nice day might just pop up.

  7. Canajun - I know, but then I'd also have to do all the work. A garage would be nice, but then I'd have to hire a personal mechanic. (I think storage is cheaper!) I hope you get a couple more days like the last two have been!

  8. Definitely sad to leave her away from home. But great that they do all of the maintenance and heated to boot. Here's to hoping that spring comes quickly.
