2013: The First Full Day Of Spring …

Really?
Is this what spring is going to look like in 2013?

It was the first, official,  full day of spring … the ice has broken on Lake Ontario, the ducks are back … but it looked so much more like a day in November.

  2. Hooray the ice has broken. Bonus the ducks are back, but ick blah on the cold looking day.

    You could call it Marchtober...Marvember?

    1. Looking like a Marvember to me ... until the blue skies broke through today. Funny how the ice on the big lake broke, but my little neighborhood lake is still frozen.

  3. Karen:

I hope your Summer looks better than your Spring. I don't want to see "broken" ice. At least the ducks are enjoying the day

    1. Ducks seemed oblivious to the wind and ice ... sad news is; someone told me summer is looking wet and cold too. Hope they are wrong!

  4. Doesn't look very "Springy". I think that Spring may actually arrive in about a month and here in Barrow, maybe three. I was here once on June 20th and the ice was starting to break up on the ocean and it was warming up into the 60's (F).

  5. Richard, you totally reminded me - I have nothing to complain about! Thanks: my cup is half full - spring is literally weeks, maybe even days away. Good thing you have adapted to cold and snowy rides. By June I hope to be tip-toe-ing barefoot in the yard, mukluks long stashed away!

    2. Not here Bob, unless you like the feel of snow/slush between your toes...besides I grew up with my Mother's rule, no bare feet until after my birthday in June.

  6. It's close Karen, almost here.

We got to 6 C today, 2 C right now and it felt lovely. There were two bikes far out of town on the 4 lane this afternoon on our way home. If I can get out the driveway with the TW, I just may take a spin this weekend. Cooler and wetter predicted though.

    1. Coop I've seen the adventurous out on bikes here as well ... but they are city folk and don't have to deal with the residual sand and mud that we country folk do ... and most of them are in their 20's. I remember being young and never feeling the cold ;o)
