It was a perfect Island day for a ride and the perfect ride
today was to the North Cape. Highway 1 lead to Summerside and to the North Cape
Coastal Drive (11, 2 and 14.) With
hardly a car in sight, blue skies and perfect temperatures the curvaceous,
often ocean hugging road was a delight all the way to the Island's northern most tip. On the Star’s maiden voyage (PEI via
Ohio/ 2010) I happened to visit the North Cape and stopped at Shirley’s in Tignish for
the best BLT I’d ever had so I convinced Ron we needed to stop there for (my)
old time’s sake.
They didn’t let us down, a delicious chicken sandwich and PEI fries for me and a homemade burger and fries for Ron.

Ron, the photo bomber.
When folks think of Prince Edward Island they
think small, and relatively speaking it is but it was still a good day’s ride
from Cornwall to the North Cape and back (358.8 km according to Dan.) I’ve
already lost track of time … the Island can do that to you.

ReplyDeleteat least you didn't get rained out this time. My wish is to go there too. You know how I love home-made hamburgers and fries. what lovely weather you are having. I can only look at your photos and dream . . .

Riding the Wet Coast
I can't believe the weather either Bob ... and I won't tell you what the rest of the folks ate for lunch today (Lobster Rolls - whoops, I said I wouldn't tell.) But if it makes you feel better, I didn't eat one.
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous last photo!
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard. That's the North Cape ... where I've found out two tides meet.
DeleteI'm glad to see the weather cooperating for you.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
It's been beautiful. I didn't know that the reef you can see behind Ron is the longest natural rock reef in North America. There were two seals playing on it that day.
DeleteKaren, losing track of time is wonderful. One more reason to visit PEI.
ReplyDeleteIf not the best reason David.
DeleteGreat photos, as always. Haven't been to the Island in years - perhaps it's time for another visit.
ReplyDeleteIt must be time Canajun! It's always time to visit the Island.
DeleteI am so glad you are finally getting some sunshine. Beautiful lighthouse pic and I love the purple flowers too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful day! Love the lighthouse pic.
ReplyDeleteWhen will you be doing the photo-bombing?
I love the lighthouse too ...it lets me know I'm by the sea. As for photo bombing ... I like it on the back side of the camera Sonja.
DeleteSimply beautiful. I hope it is relaxing as it looks.
