I Might Not Get As Far As I Thought ...

This morning broke sunny and cool but not without a few challenges … most of them to do with water: water and technology, water and packing and some to do with bugs. The tent fly was saturated after last night’s five hour heavy down pour though most things inside seemed dry(ish). Most things, that is, except the cell phone. I hadn’t put it to sleep in its dry bag and the leather ‘book’ cover (which was apparently stiffened with cardboard) sucked up enough moisture from the air to wet the phone and shut it down. First challenge, find rice – quick. A 4 km hike to the Tourist Mart and back and I had the phone packed in a bag of rice. Trying to dry out the tent before packing it meant an additonal 2 hour delay. So much for being on the road by 8. Finally ready to go and I realized my eye was swollen from a bug bite (of some sort or another) and I had three additional monstrous bites on my nick and jaw. Nasty little critters, last time I harbor them in a storm.

11 am (finally) on the road ... Garmin Dan, “USB has been plugged into wrong port.” “Oh, Dan! Shake the water out of your port. I didn’t change anything!” Click - OK (click ok, click ok, click ok again and again and again...)
But tonight this is the view. I’ve stopped at the Clipper Ship on The Bay of Fundy 6 times now. Each time I’ve used it as a stop before racing to the next destination. Tonight as I looked at the light reflecting off the little fishing boats jockeying about on the bay I thought, why?
I might not get as far as I thought, but I couldn’t pass by one more time. I booked a second night. My 'not planned' plans have changed again and I've got waves crashing outside my door, indoor plumbing, no bugs plus a bit of Fundy Shore to explore tomorrow!

Is worth 2 on a wire!

  1. Nice photos of the fishing boats. Are they all the same color since they belong to the same person/company or is green a popular color for fishing boats?

    1. Not sure Richard, but I'm guessing they are all the same company/owner. (They were back tonight - not sure what they are catching but they do it just as the tide starts to go.)

  3. Hope your phone dried out and is working. At least you have a beautiful view for the night.

I agree with Canajun - the joys of tenting. Go camping they said, it'll be fun they said...........

    1. It is what it is. Sadly, work related issues have also come into play and I am having to head back home instead of west where I wanted to go.
