“Tour de Garages” - Post 2: The Challenge

A comment from Trobairitz inspired me to have fun with the "Tour de Garages." It’s a challenge: Can you guess what bike is coming next based on the preview photo?

Post your guess as a comment, check back to see if you were right … and watch for the next bike. Start with the “Pick of the liter,” posted January 27, 2013.

There are no prizes … but your reward will be my (and probably a whole lot of other folks) admiration. Plus you will be able to bask in the knowledge that if you can guess the make (and better yet the model of even one bike in this series) you are indeed a connoisseur of fine motorcycles … probably, most definitely, even likely … a motorcycle aficionado – an expert (and we will know who to come to with questions.)

But ... if you do manage to guess them all ... I may have to volunteer to do your laundry for a week because you are freaking good! The winner will be announced ... when the garages are closed.

(I’ll admit it isn’t a challenge that I’d try  … but lucky for me, I have the answer sheet!)
Have Fun/be challenged - that's what life is about!

Disclaimer

(Friends and family may not apply- I already admire you guys!)

  1. Karen:

I cannot recognize vintage bikes but I am guessing that this bike is British. I also notice the compression release on the left handlebar so this means that it is a Single Cylinder Thumper. My guess is a Matchless/AJS post war, probably from around 1950 or earlier before they produced v-twins

  2. I am not a good guesser at parts of bikes, but I like the challenge idea.

    1. Brandy, I'm even worse than "not a good guesser" Not sure I'd be able to guess from the whole picture - But that Bobskoot is pretty close.

However, i bet Harley Motorcycle Accessories would work for your bike. Find time to check them out.

    1. Too bad you won't take a guess ... Sorry Janet my Yamaha doesn't wear Harley, but I'll leave it up to individuals whether or not they want to link to your retail company.

  4. I will not be guessing, haven't a clue about what parts go with what, but I will just enjoy sitting back and seeing what the pros come up with. Terrific way to pass the winter!

  5. Suzu - I hear you loud and clear, because it's like my own voice. I'm hoping I learn a (little) bit about the the thing a-ma-jigs and do-dads of motorcycles and parts ... not enough to work on my own bike (that will NEVER happen)... just enough, okay, if you want to know the truth, just enough, not to sound dumb! (I still support - for the best way to maintain your motorcycle - the only tools you need are a good mechanic and a credit card!)
And I love looking at other peoples bikes ... gives me something to talk about this winter. (But that Bob, he's good!)

  6. I'll leave this one to Bob since my guess would be pretty close to his. I see some things I recognize but honestly, I'm not all that good at the old Brit stuff. The characters I share coffee with on Saturday morning could probably give us the address of the factory and whether or not the machine was built in April or July.

    1. Coop - collaboration is encouraged ...since I won't be posting the blog until Sunday night (because I need a photo of the rear suspension - hint hint) you've got lots of time to take it to the 'characters' of Saturday morning!
