Very soon I will be complaining that it's not the heat, it's the humidity!

It's Not The Cold ...
It's not the cold ... it's the damp. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that quote, but tonight it's true. The mercury (do they use mercury anymore?) is hovering around zero. Two months ago I'd have said it was positively balmy, tonight though, it's cold. But it's worth it to have Nature's street cleaner remove the winter's sand from the roads. And I'm just fine here beside the fire. There's nothing that takes the chill out of a damp April night like a cozy fire.

That does look cosy! Hope you have a large box of dark chocolates nearby!!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I think of chocolate??? Chocolate would have been good!!!
DeleteVery cozy scene with the wood stove. Does the rain do a decent job of washing the sand from the roads? We usually need street sweepers with their large rotating brushes to clean up the sand and gravel. But until then, I always look for gravel to ride on for better traction on the ice.
ReplyDeleteRichard, outside of the city the rain is all we have to wash the streets. But I'm with you, I look for sand when the road is icy. If we had gotten the predicted rainfall of 20 to 30 mm of rain the roads would have been clear in no time
DeleteAnd it won't be long until I'm lighting my fire.
ReplyDeleteFun fact, your woodburner looks very similar to mine but the door opens from the left. Mine opens from the right. And you drive on the wrong side of the road too...
Well, the jury is still out on who drives on the wrong side of the road. (Do you have more wrist burns with right handed people opening left handed doors??? There's a study to be made here.)
DeleteI wish I had a fireplace like this. No cold or damp weather could bring me down with one of those.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very calming spot to sit ... often ending in a nap!
