A World Covered In Ice

The area has been under a freezing rain warning for over 24 hours. There is both beauty and ugliness in this  ice covered world.
The freezing rain warning was cancelled and reinstated an hour later. We're lucky, we still have hydro if not all of the trees we had yesterday. All is good as long as we are warm, dry, safe and sound.

  1. That’s quite the broken branch. Is the break a result of ice buildup on the branches?

    1. Yes, it was half the tree and yes due to ice build up (and old age). It is an ancient willow and I'm afraid for it's future. Spring will tell I guess.

  2. Hi Karen, welcome back in the blogosphere. It looks like you have been busy with real life.
This is a weather pattern I fear the most when having to drive. But yes, there is beauty in it.

    1. Sonja it is also my least favorite weather to drive in. I was very glad to be home on holiday.

    1. Geoff, the problem is ... not cold enough sadly. Temps have been hovering around the zero mark for the season and instead of snow it rains and freezes. I'd rather be driving in snow than on ice ... But I have to agree, would prefer temps in the 20s. Stay safe in 2020.

  4. We've been enjoying (?) ugly weather for sure this year. Heavy, wet snow and ice has done major damage to the young trees up here, some so bent over they'll never recover and others having to be removed because they lay down across the road. Give me good snow and cold temperatures, or give me summer!

A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours Karen.
