New Hampshire Tonight

Back in moose/deer country - riding through Maine means keeping an eye peeled for wild life ... to date, I've spotted one cow and two chickens on the road; funny I didn't see any warning signs for farm animals on the loose. (Did you know Prince Edward Island has no deer or moose - a rider's dream.)
This morning's ride was beautiful. Two lane highways curving lazily through the mountains from Augusta Maine to Chococura on the White Mountain highway. I'm camping in New Hampshire tonight. The main reason for stopping in this the ski/lake/shopping/vacation mecca was to visit Whitehorse Gear. They are a motorcycle warehouse wholesaler of all things related to but not including motorcycles. It's big enough to get lost in and they offer free water, coffee and cookies for all customers. They are mainly online catalogue sales but welcome walk ins with open arms. I loved the sign at their drive ... caution friendly dogs and cool motorcycles ahead.
It got hot today so finding my campsite nestled among the trees, beside a lake with a pool and 5 miles of nature trails was a welcome site. The campground roads were not so cruiser friendly and it took a couple of changes to find a tent site I felt comfortable to stay in if it rains tonight and tomorrow like the weatherman says it will. But finally I found one and how lucky for me to set up beside Greg and Robin and Greg who invited me to dinner of hotdogs and chile and chips.

Another family at the campground happy to have visitors.
I think I've decided where to go next ... it just may not be tomorrow. I've decided if I don't have to ride in the rain ... I won't, after all I don't have to be anywhere anytime soon. Life really is good!
PS - anybody notice the nasty crack in my windscreen. No idea how it happened, one morning it was just there.

  1. Let's hope you don't get stuck in that bad weather being forecast.

At least you have a beautiful camping spot.

    1. The campsite was terrific ... though the bugs got the best of me before long on the hiking trail. So far (not including about 20 minutes today) I am missing the weather. There seem to be some big systems all around me for sure.

  2. I would've never guessed Whitehorse Gear. I've ordered from them before but didn't have a clue where they were located. It looks like a beautiful campsite though your neighbors "Greg and Robin and Greg" sound confusing.

    1. Richard I can see how one might be confused by the neighbors. Mom Robin (teacher in Chicago area) son Greg and Step Dad also Greg.
I'm not surprised that you have ordered from Whitehorse Gear, they seem like a fairly big operation.

  3. You've stumbled upon the best way to deal with rainy weather riding....do not rainy ride. I remember a summer long ago where I was as fortunate as you, able to make that choice. Follow the sun or at least the partly cloudy VSL!

If I knew about the lack of large wild animals on PEI I forgot. I say let's keep the island as-is.

    1. Coop have to say I'm liking it though I'm not getting very far very fast, it has become a challenge to find where the sun might shine - I am dry and a lot more relaxed. (And here's hoping the Island never changes.)
