It wasn’t a great day for a ride but I had an umbrella and walking in the rain seemed to appeal to me today. I love fall festivals and today was the 20th annual Battersea Pumpkin Festival.
I’ve been attending it for years: for me it has become the official start of autumn.
The entire community seems to join in the celebrations. Along the route I listened to a group of birds that gathered by the roadside to chatter noisily about their winter plans. It rained on and off … it’s a glorious time of year, but a sad time as well as nature prepares for the long winter ahead.
I’m glad my community celebrates the season rain or shine.
Those pumpkins bring so much color to a grey day. I am glad you went out and had fun despite the rain.
ReplyDeleteEven on a grey day fall is all about the colour isn't it?
DeletePumpkins and the carving and cooking rituals that are coming with it are also getting more and more popular in Germany, too. We do not celebrate Halloween but there will be private parties going on that day.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so big on Halloween but I'm all about the colours of fall and the harvest ... there's just something about fall and the changing season that makes me smile.
DeleteThat reminds me that I need to pick up a pumpkin for baking...
ReplyDeleteYou bake? Can I send you pumpkins? Tim Horton's is all about pumpkin this month ... donuts, muffins, coffee (is there such a thing as too much pumpkin?) Okay, so I don't bake!
DeleteMaybe my sister will make a pumpkin pie... Hmmmmmm {drools}
ReplyDeleteObviously I'm not your sister ... but would she bake one for us as well? There's something about pumpkin...do you take yours with or without maple syrup?
