Touring on a VStar 650 Custom: “I haven't a clue as to how my story will end. But that's all right. When you set out on a journey and night covers the road, you don't conclude the road has vanished. And how else could we discover the stars?" (unknown)

Oh, the weather ...
Oh, the weather ... it couldn't have been more perfect nor the colours more spectacular. What a fantastic weekend for riding. Too many beautiful colours and so few places to stop to take a picture. I did my best.
We have been having a stellar Dallas as well. There is a tiny edge of chill in the air, but it's gorgeous nonetheless. Makes me wonder what our winter is going to be like.
I just returned from 2 weeks visiting my daughter in BC so I was spoiled by the scenery there. I did get out Saturday for about 400 kms around Haliburton area and hope to get at least one more quick camping ride in [possibly Quebec] before it's too cold. Although, any time after labour day it can be tough to find campgrounds on the fly. Did you travel to any fall festivals? Cheers
Two weeks in BC and even better you come back to more than spectacular weather! I managed to get about 400 k in as well (over the 2 days) ... north of 7 but not as far as Haliburton. I had hoped, like last year, to happen upon a fall festival but no such luck this time. Quebec ... Gatineau area is beautiful in fall - I've never been in the Eastern townships in autumn. Good luck with the campgrounds especially after Thanksgiving weekend.
I decided to take the dual sport up to Northern Quebec for a 3 day trip. The colours were great even though most trees were covered in dust from the logging roads. The pavement ended at Ste Anne du Lac and from there its 200 kms of wide gravel roads to the next town which is Parent. Came around a corner to a big black bear crossing the road. I stopped. It stopped. Looked at each other then it continued on its way. Yes, finding an open campground was impossible so at 10:00 pm and too many deer sightings I just ignored the No Camping sign and set up overnight at an Information parkette and was gone by sunrise. I hope to get some more day rides in. If possible, I'd also like to meet you and possibly other local bloggers over a coffee or tea and discuss how you got your start with the blog? Cheers Karen.
Thanks Trobairitz... over a 400 k road trip and my best photo op was 1.5k from home. My favorite little coffee shop, 100 k away (last photo) closes for the season next weekend - great cappuccino, rotten scenery!
Ah, you guessed it Richard. It's 'my' lake ... I walk past it every night (1.5 km) and I've posted photos of that very spot many times over, in many seasons. I never tire of stopping there to watch it change.
That was quite a three day adventure. I haven't been further north than Maniwaki and that was by car, though I have met a black bear face to motorcycle in the Poconos. Luckily he went his way, I went mine (after what felt like an endless stare down.) I too am hoping for at least one more (dry) day ride. I'm riding on borrowed time - my back tire having seen more than 25 k and my front end having developed a recent, questionable 'scritch, scritch' sound. (I've got somebody to look into that.) I will put out an all call on my blog ... Sunday October 12 looks spectacular and Saturday October 18 looks not too bad (according to the long range forecast) as a rain date. I expect that will be the last chance for me before the star rides into storage. After that...spring!!!!

ReplyDeleteDar it is the summer we wished for ... I'm not going to worry about winter until I have to!
DeleteThis is the time I love the most, especially in your neck of the woods. Maybe next year I can have a look at the fall foliage myself...
ReplyDeleteIt is my favorite time of year, even amidst some sadness. I hope you get here next year ... I'll be waiting!

DeleteThe scenery is spectacular! Your pictures are great!
ReplyDeleteThanks AHD ... the spots with the real scenery had no shoulders to pull over on. So sad. Must be time for a GoPro (or a side car!)
DeleteBeautiful colors is right. Love that pic with the lake and fence. Very nice.
